In March of 2005 Steve began to write a monthly golf instruction column in the South Carolina Amateur Golfer magazine the publication with the largest monthly distribution of any golf publication in the state. Steve has also been featured in the last two Natural Golfer magazines specifically volume 8 issue 1 and volume 8 issue 2. You can read these publications through the Natural Golf website: www.naturalgolf.com, go to the clubhouse tab then the N.G. magazine option then archives. The South Carolina Amateur Golfer magazine can be found at any golf course pro shop or at your local golf retail outlet throughout the state.

Pictured here is Steve Conrad of CarolinaSmartSwing with the world famous short game guru, Harold Swash this past January at the 2005 P.G.A. Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida.  Harold is credited with assisting amateur, professional, and touring professional golfers from all over the globe.  He is widely known for his expertise in putting instruction most notably in Europe, and is now gaining prominence with golfers in the United States.

Harold has developed the patented "C-Groove" putting face that is one of the hottest technological advancements in putting.  The C-groove putters are being used by Retief Goosen, the 2004 U.S. Open champion, and Stuart Appleby, the 2005 winner of the Mercedes Championships.  Harold gave me a C-groove putter made by Pro Gear years ago and since then I have never rolled the ball better.

Last week at the P.G.A. Merchandise Show I was very fortunate to be able to spend 20 minutes alone with Harold.  We discussed his philosophy, to which I myself ascribe and teach, and I was able to get him to critique my putting set-up and motion.  We even taped my putting on video.  My set-up improved and I saw the change in the video.  I began to release the putter better and in doing that I sank many more putts.  Taking advantage of learning opportunities with pros like Harold helps me to constantly improve my teaching and that is one of my commitments to my students.
