Philosophy

We approach each student as an individual, and individuals have specific learning styles. Students all have different body types and some have physical limitations or challenges. All certainly have different personalities. However, each person learns using the same cycle of competency ideal and we all learn in three ways; visually with our eyes, auditorily with our ears, and kinesthetically which is by feel.

Communication is the key to being an excellent instructor. However, while words convey ideas and make sense consciously, words may not be the best way to learn for everyone. Feeling what one cognitively understands and then seeing it is a very powerful teaching manner. We've all experienced understanding what an instructor is saying but still finding it difficult to repeat that motion because we have yet to feel what we know consciously to be correct. Through the effective use of Natural Golf drills and Steve’s experience in the art of instruction you will quickly learn to feel what is a correct motion so that you can effectively solid contact and strike the ball to your target.

Steve will always ask you what it is that you want and he will listen to your answer closely. Then he will instruct you toward that end considering your individual traits. Your Natural Golf swing will not look exactly like Steve’s swing or anyone else's swing. You will own your own individual swing.

Additionally, in order to become better, happy golfers we must also consider the equipment being used. Golf equipment will have a direct affect on how you swing and score. In my thirty years of teaching golf, I have come to understand that using equipment ill matched to a golfer’s size and ability levels directly and seriously hurts the effectiveness of a golfer’s swing. You will learn faster and better with properly fitted equipment. Therefore I will always offer free dynamic custom club fittings to every student.
